Joel sets Co Armagh on way to victory

County Armagh kicked off the Premier section with a convincing 3-0 success today (Monday) against Bohemians.

Glenavon’s Joel Adams opened the scoring with a close-range header off a corner-kick.

Lurgan’s Jamie Rea doubled the lead by converting Mark McCabe’s clever approach play.

Number three arrived at Portstewart’s The Warren in the second half off from another Lurgan man, Ruairi McDonald with a long-range drive.

“This was a superb perforamance from the lads,” said manager Brendan Grimes. “They took on board what we told them and peaked at the right time.”

Dean McCullough, chairman of the County Armagh Milk Cup Association, was also thrilled and said, “It was important to get off to a winning start, especially with Manchester United next up in the group.

“This result will give the lads plenty of confidence and it was a well-deserved victory.”
