Kee feels teams are working harder than ’Stute

Institute boss Paul Kee was for the third week in a row bitterly disappointed by his side’s first half display, this time at Knockbreda, on Saturday.

The Drumahoe club were second best throughout the opening 45 minutes and trailed 2-0 at the break, something, which Kee was frustrated about.

“There is a trend happening in games, where teams are out working us and that’s it in a nut shell,” insisted the ’Stute gaffer.

“Teams are stopping us from playing, they are putting a lot of energy in games and that’s the last three games in the league, with that happening. You have to credit your opponent.

“However in saying that we gave Knockbreda two soft penalties. The first goal was a lack of concentration and the second goal I don’t know what Michael (Doherty) was doing and I’ll obviously have a chat with him about that this week.

“But to go in 2-0 down at half-time and having not played well, but really gifted them their goals, it was disappointing.

“In fairness in the second half, we again had most of the play and to get back into the game in the matter which we did was pleasing.

“But as I have said the players are going to have to wake up and smell the coffee, this is the Championship and teams are well aware now in the last year, of what we do and what way we do things, so they are stopping us, but we have to be bigger than that, we have to do better than that and we have to make sure that we are ready for the fight, because if we aren’t, as we weren’t in the first half at Knockbreda, then it will continue to happen.”

The ’Stute boss did press his players for their bounce back ability in the second half.

“The most pleasing thing was obviously the boys showed great character to get back into the game and earn a point,” he added.

“We came on Saturday looking to try and win the game, we had the three points in our mind and I think we maybe could have got it in the end, as if I’m to be honest with you I fancied us to score a third goal late on, but it wasn’t to be.

“We now have had four draws on the trot in the league, it leaves us unbeaten, but in fairness if you had have asked me before the game would I have taken a point then yeah probably, because coming to Knockbreda and knowing what they do I knew it was going to be tough.

“The fact that we were 2-0 down and fought back is good for the team.”
