Kincaid confirms Melly’s Inver exit

Melly - who signed forms for Larne just a few weeks ago - is hoping to field for The Whites in the Carling Premiership come August. However, according to Kincaid, that depends on a fortnight’s trial he will be undertaking at New Grosvenor.

A disappointed Kincaid said: “He asked me if it would be okay for him to go on a two-week trial with Lisburn Distillery. He wanted to join them but, if things didn’t work out at the trial, he would like to have come back to Inver Park.

“Dom is an experienced player who has been around a bit – Crusaders, Bangor and Ballymena United among his former clubs – so why does he need to go on trial with Distillery?

“Aside from that, however, I only want players who want to play for Larne Football Club and there is no way I am playing second-fiddle to other clubs with such a situation being facilitated. I wish Dom well, but I couldn’t accede to such a request.

“Relating to The Whites by coincidence, I have signed two teenagers - both young defenders - from Distillery on recommendation from somebody I can trust. I believe they are well worth having in our squad.

“Zac Fletcher is a right-back, while Kurtis Bell can play left-back or wide on the left. They are both big lads and very athletic with great scope to develop into quality players.

“Scott Todd is also a right-back and I have signed him from Wellington Rec. Another local lad, he will be a great asset to the club. Only 23, he was a target for Larne when Paul Millar was the manager and I’m delighted he has come on board because he’s in with a great chance of being a top-class recruit.

“There have been reports that Adam Dick could be on his way to Glenavon and I can confirm that he was in contact to say that he had been invited for discussions with Paul Millar and manager Gary Hamilton. He said he would let me know what develops, but I have heard nothing more since then.”

Kincaid also dismissed rumours Larne could move for Islandmagee’s Michael Moore.
