Lauren gains fourth cap for NI Senior Ladies

Coleraine’s Lauren Wade featured in the Northern Ireland ladies squad who beat Estonia twice last week in an International Challenge double header.

The 19-year-old, who is a student at Jordanstown, played twenty minutes in the first tie at Newforge, which the ladies won 1-0.

Lauren got 35 minutes game time in her side’s second 1-0 against the Estonians at Clandeboye Park.

Wade is no stranger to the international set up.

She gained her first cap when she was just 16 against Scotland.

The talented winger, who plays her club football at Glentoran Ladies, had been out of the game for a number of years due to injury, but Lauren told Times Sport this week, that she is delighted to be back playing and involved in the International set up, headed by Alfie Whylie.

Northern Ireland ladies will take on Sweden on April 5 in a world Cup qualifier.

Any new players, aged 14 plus are invited to train with the side on a Monday night at Coleraine Showgrounds, from 6.30 to 8pm.

Manager, Alison Nicholl is urging older players to get their boots back on again.

“We have a very young squad this year, so it would be good to get a few more experienced players in.

“It is great to see some of the younger players coming through and there are a few of these girls involved in the County Londonderry set up, which is great experience for them.

The ladies will kick start their season next month in the NIWFA Concentrix Division One.
