The win was Declan Devine’s side fourth in a row and even more impressive is the fact that they haven’t conceded a goal in any of those games.

The talented winger fired home the opening goal in spectacular fashion after 14 minutes, before in-form striker Michael Rafter netted his fourth goal in three games, mid-way through the first half to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at the break.

Derry added a third on 75 minutes when centre-back Ryan McBride headed home his second goal of the campaign after a goalmouth scramble, before Barry McNamee calmly side-footed home City’s fourth goal a few minutes later, after a clever through ball by man of the match Rafter had released the Ramelton man.

Sentinel Sport’s Editor Kevin McLaughlin spoke to Patrick McEleney after the game at Dalymount Park.
