Sky Blues ‘didn’t deserve to lose’ - Ferguson

“I actually don’t think we deserved to lose the game – I don’t know whether we deserved to in it or not but I don’t think we deserved to lose it,” said Ferguson.

“We had what I would call a perfectly good goal ruled out – it’s the old goalkeeper protection scenario again and then Gary Liggett gets put clean through by one of their defenders and the linesman gives it as offside.

“I felt those were two bad mistakes by the officials but they’re human, they make mistakes.

“We had a lot of play and huffed and puffed but we wasted chances in good areas and our final ball into the box was disappointing.

“It’s just one of those situations where we need to go forward and try to pick up as many points as possible.

“We changed the formation today and went 4-4-2 at the start and then we brought Neil Lowry in behind the front two later in the game.

“We tried a couple of other things to see if it would make a difference in the game but it didn’t really.

“Coleraine are a good side – they pass the ball well and keep the ball well and in Curtis Allen, they have a player who’s always going to be a threat.

“I would like to be playing them again next week. We want to try and get that monkey off our backs as soon as possible. I don’t know whether it’s a psychological barrier or what but the sooner we can beat them, the better.

“Ally Teggart jarred his knee in the warm-up – he has possibly nipped his cartilage although I’m sure yet of the extent of the injury.

“We had to make an enforced change straight away and I played Michael Ruddy wide on the left to try and give us some energy up and down but he is playing his way into full match fitness.

“Mark McCullagh and Shaun Maher played well together considering it’s the first time they had actually met each other.

“You can see the two of them are good defenders but they are also comfortable with the ball.

“Hopefully we can look at playing better football when the pitch gets better,” added Ferguson.
