Welly Rec prove a point at Rangers

Wellington Rec ended a run of three consecutive Division 1B defeats with a 1-1 draw at against Rathfern Rangers on Saturday.

Rec manager Arron Boyd admitted: “It’s always tough up there, but we put in a good performance. We were missing our two front men Craig Cowie and Dean Shaw, who might just have made the difference, though Lee Rea and Gerard Burns both put in a great shift up there.”

The Millbrook outfit took the lead on the half-hour, through Billy Pawson’s 30-yard volley. Rathfern cancelled that out on 65 minutes, scoring from a corner.
