Acheson storms to victory at Prehen

Billy Acheson maintained his splendid form and was the clear winner of Saturday’s competition at City of Derry.

The 24 handicapper scored a fantastic 44 points over 18 holes, in near perfect conditions. Second was R Hamilton (18) who scored 40 points and D O’Connell (22) with 39 points was third.

On Sunday, at Prehen, Michael McShane was the victor with two points to spare over five players on 36 points over 18 holes.

McShane (21) scored 38 points, second after a break of tie finish was J Desmond (13) who scored 36 points, J McCann (10) with 36 points was third.

J O’Doherty (13), C Brolly (12) and K Green (13) also all finished on 36 points.

Last Thursday’s Open saw A Heaney (11) with 36 points come out on top, second was W McKeegan (23) after he finished with 35 points and E McCourt (8) with 34 points was third.

The Thursday Societies forthcoming competition takes place tomorrow with the Joe Ramsey Trophy, Skippers Day (see notice board for more information) will be staged on Thursday, April 3 and on Thursday, April 24 the Ted Pope Trophy takes centre stage.

Forthcoming Competitions this week at Prehen starts on Saturday, with the Subscribers Cup, Sunday Society is also staged at the weekend, while on Monday there will be a Captain’s Drive at 12.45pm and a Teams of Four competition teeing off at 1pm.

While beginning at the start of April, Over 50s Competition on Monday’s, Wednesday’s will be Meal Deal and Thursday Opens.
