GOLF: Seventh Trolan Golf Classic helps keep Big Bus moving
The event is organised by Patsy and Mary Trolan, former owners of the SuperValu store in Ballymoney, along with other family members and with support from colleagues at the store.
In the previous six years SuperValu Ballymoney has raised more than £150,000 for Action Cancer and this year’s Golf Classic added £8,500 to the pot, bringing the total raised to over £158,500.

Hide AdFunds from the Trolan Golf Classics go towards Action Cancer’s Big Bus screening and health promotion mobile unit, which brings a range of early detection and cancer prevention services into the heart of local communities. SuperValu and its independent retailers are the main sponsors of the Big Bus and have raised more than £1million for the unit since it was launched in 2006.
30,000 people have used the Big Bus service, including 17,000 women who have been screened for breast cancer.
Patsy Trolan said: “We are really delighted that the Golf Classic has been successful again this year, raising much-needed funds to help keep the Action Cancer Big Bus moving.
“We’d like to say thank you to everyone who supported the event – from Portstewart Golf Club, the golfers to sponsors and local businesses who got involved. We had a great day of golf, made all the better by knowing that the funds raised will make such a difference to so many people, through the life-saving Big Bus service.”
