Juvenile Section hold AGM at Dunmurry

Others in attendance were the Captain, President, Lady Captain, Mr Derek Gorman juvenile convener, Mr Michael Stanford Golf Manager and Mr John Dolan Club Professional. In addition was a good turnout of juveniles, parents and grandparents.

Mr Fleming welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced Mr Robert Gilmer, Juvenile safeguard officer, Mrs Jane Fleming lady convener and members of the committee. He expressed his thanks to Mr Gorman for his splendid contribution and hard work which made 2013 a successful year.

He also thanked John Dolan and Gary Wardlow for the coaching which had produced excellent results including eight juveniles achieving single figure handicaps.

The Lady Captain Mrs Shepherd was invited to speak and she noted with regret the lack of young ladies. She was particularly proud of the achievement of Laura Cathcart who not only achieved single figure handicap but played in lady representative teams with great success. The Lady Captain presented Laura with an honours pullover.

The Captain Mr Lawrence Patterson was invited to speak and he expressed his pleasure at being asked to do so. He praised those who had represented the club with particular comment of the eight who achieved single handicap.

He spoke of his pleasure and enjoyment when watching the teams taking part in competitions. They represented the club with skill, good appearance and good behaviour both on and off the course and were a credit to the club and also thanked the professional and his staff for the excellent coaching. He presented honours pullovers to Chris Black, Duncan Fleming, Ryan Trimble, Mathew Stewart, Thomas Gracey, Jack Irvine and Peter Kerr. Peter played in the Belfast and District Team who won the trophy.

Mr Derek Gorman, juvenile convener announced the name of the captain of the Fred Daly Team, Ryan Trimble who was presented with his team captain’s pullover and Peter Morgan, the juvenile Captain who was also presented with his captain’s pullover.

Peter spoke thanking the convener and committee for nominating him as juvenile captain and looked forward to that role. He undertook to support and encourage the juveniles particularly youngest to ensure their development.

The chairman thanked the convener for all his hard work and effort and congratulated him on the successes.
