Kieran the clear winner over two days

The competition at Silverwood Golf Club last week was the Silverwood Cup, a two day event, and with the course in great condition and very fast greens there was always going to be good scores.

The winner with an excellent 84 points was Kieran Murray who had a brilliant first day with 44 points with 16 pars and two birdies for a two under gross and no bogeys. He backed that up with another 40 points on the second day for a fantastic total of 84.

In second place was Connor Hutchinson with 82 points. Connor had 42 points on the first day and came in with 40 points on the second day for another great score.

Third place went to Fintan McAreavey who had a total of 81 points.

Fintan had a fantastic first day score of 44 points with a four under gross, best score of the weekend, with 14 pars and four birdies, and he followed that up with 37 points on the second day.

The first gross prize went to Michael Molloy with 75 gross points.

Michael had a superb 3 under gross 69 on the first day and a level par 72 on the second day.

Fourth prize went to Kieran Devlin with a total of 80 points, Kieran had 37 points on the first day and a brilliant 43 points on the second day for his total of 80 points.

Fifth prize went to Paul Lavery with 79 points. Paul had 39 point’s on the first day and followed that up with 40 points.

The second gross prize was picked up by Kevin Munster with 68 gross points, he had a 75 on the first day and a 73 on day two.

The senior prize went to Brian Brady with 72 points. Best overall junior was Darragh McCann with 79 points.

Day 1 winner was Barry Magee 41 points; Day 2 winner was Shane O’Neill 43 points; 2nd Day 1 was Michael Walsh 40 points; 2nd Day 2 was Dominic Marsden 42 points.

Junior day 1 was Oisin Farquhar 41 points; Junior day 2 was Ethan Headley 42 points; Best front nine was Peter McCabe 24 points; Best back nine was Sean McStay 23 points.

It turned out to be a great weekend for Sean who also recorded a hole in one at the 14th hole.
