Team 8 lead the way at Foyle

With six cards returned in the Pitchers Spring League at Foyle, it’s Team 8 of Mark Doherty, Ciaran O’Doherty, John Jennings and Dermott Harkin have ammassed 545 points, after returning another excellent score of 96 points.

They hold a sixteen point lead at the top of the qualifying section of the league with four cards to play and the teams having to drop their lowest scores it is still all to play for as the teams compete for the top eight places in the match play.

Team 15 of David Wilson, Rob Ewing, Declan Ryan and Brendan Gallagher with 529 points are currently second and Team 7 of Kieran Bradley, Joe Bradley, John Logue and Martin Loughrey with 528 points in third spot.

The Easter Egg competition winners were as follows: Stuart Gauld, Kevin Crumley and Mark Doherty.

The Foyle Golf Club held its 20th Annual General Meeting recently and the outgoing Captain Mr George Fitzpatrick before stepping down from his second term in office thanked everyone for their support, saying he was leaving with some great memories he presented Junior Captain Gary McEvoy with his 2014 Jumper.

After reading a citation about the Clubs Hon Secretary John J Logue he presented him with Honorary Life Membership of Foyle Golf Club, then presented incoming Captain Mr Chris Lynch with his 2014 Jacked, in his acceptance address Chris said it was a great honor to be Captain of the Club, after congratulating George on his achievements during the past year, said he had a big act to follow but would strive to continue with the forward progression of our Club.

The Club Captain Chris Lynch extends deepest sympathy on behalf of everyone at Foyle to fellow Club Members Sean and Finbar Logue on the recent death of their sister Ann Marie. May she rest in peace

Meanwhile the Pitchers Spring League continues daily as does the Easter Egg competitions, while the Sunday Society competition takes place at the weekend.
