Victory for Crowe in Topping Scratch trophy

The single figure golfers of Dunmurry Golf Club played for the Topping Scratch Trophy over 36 holes, on Sunday September 7.

Darren Crowe (+2) set the early pace with a five under par 65 in the morning including a hole in one at the par three third and followed it up with six birdies on the back nine.

In the afternoon he could only record a one under par 69 for a total of 134 to give him a two shot victory to claim the trophy for the fourth year a row.

Second place went to UUJ student Chris Morgan (1) who went round the first 18 in 68, which also included a hole in one at the third. He followed it up with a level par 70 for a 36 hole total of 138.

Glen McAuley was third with rounds of 67, 72 for 139 total one shot ahead of Steven Crowe 68, 71 = 140 in fourth spot.

Bradbury Cup

On Saturday 13th September, 25 golfers represented Dunmurry against Lisburn, Malone and Balmoral the hosts, in the annual Bradbury Cup at Balmoral.

Balmoral won the event with Lisburn second, Dunmurry third, and Malone fourth.

Sweep

At Dunmurry a Sweep competition was held and the winner was John White with 42 pts. John had a steady front nine of 18 points, however a strong finish saw him pick up 12 points over the last four holes to claim victory.

Steven Paul (19) also returned 42 pts and had 18 pts on the front nine and 24 points on the back nine but lost out on the countback.

Third place went to Chris Moore (9) with 41 pts, while Balmoral’s Gordon Maguire (6) 41 pts was fourth and P. Quinn (12) was fifth also on 41 pts, which include a hole in one at the 16th.

The gross prize went to Peter McRoberts (5) thanks to a level round of par 70, which included birdies at the 7th, 14th and 15th.
