Golfers brave poor conditions in stableford competition at Galgorm Castle
At the half way stage Norman Nicholl (23) and Jim Millar (21) held a two point advantage from James Smyth (12) with David Gault (17) and Nigel Cairns (22) at one and two points respectively further behind.
A ‘ding’ by Nicholl at the Fort gave the advantage to Millar which he gladly accepted and through thirteen he held a one point lead from Smyth.

Hide AdNicholl and Cairns were a further two points down with Gault, after a ‘ding’ at thirteen, another three points behind.
Millar was still ahead up the Grove but Nicholl had closed to within one point with the help of two pars.
Smyth, Cairns and Gault were another two, three and four points respectively behind.
Millar ran into bogey trouble over the closing holes and a double bogey, bogey finish gave Nicholl the chance to win which he took with a bogey, par finish to win by two points.

Hide AdCairns (par,double bogey), Gault (par, bogey) and Smyth (par, ‘ding’) finished together three further points adrift and with a better back nine Cairns took third place.

Overall Winner – Norman N icholl (23) 41 pts; Runner-up – Jim Millar (21) 39 pts; 3rd. N igel Cairns (22) 36 pts; Gross – George Small (9) 35 pts.
Twos were recorded by: Dylan Cairns, George Watt, John Davidson, Mark Hamilton, Gary McWilliams, Ronan Speers and Colin Orr.
