Kilrea Manor Golf Club news

THE Spring League got under way at the Kilrea Manor Golf Club on the weekend of February 6/7 despite the difficult weather conditions making the course unplayable at times.

The format consists of 4 teams of 8 players competing over 5 weekends, and the best 6 cards counting towards the total..There is also a prize for the best individual score over the 5 rounds

After 2 rounds, Charlie Hasson's team leads with 444 Stableford points, second is Harry Boyle's team with 436.

The Weekend Competition runs alongside the League, and the individual scores recorded in that competition are counted for the weekend competition.

On the 6/7 February weekend the winner was Christopher Hasson with an impressive score of 44.

Runner up was Brian Doherty with 41.

Pat Cleary and Charlie Hasson also returned 41 but lost out on the countback in that order.

Lawrence Healey had a hole in 1 at the par 4th though he wasn't playing in the competition at the time with his playing colleagues.

Congratulations Lawrence, and I have no knowledge of whether it cost him a round of drinks at the bar afterwards to all and sundry. There were 7 twos posted, P Cleary, at the 1st, E O'kane at the 3rd, J Eagleson at the 4th, Captain Seamus Hasson with one at the 4th and one at the 8th, B Devine also at the 8th.and S Wylie.

The weekend competition on the 13/14 February was won by John Eagleson with 42 points after a count back with Eneas Quinn who also had 41. There were only 3 twos posted, namely by H McAleese, P Quinn, and L Healey.

The draw for the Ulster Cup gives us a 1st round tie against Royal Portrush G C.which we are looking forward to with anticipation. The away fixture will take place in mid April, still to be confirmed and the return match at home early in May, probably.

The Ulster Four Ball draw sees us away in the 1st round to Ormeau G.C.in April and the return home match on the latter part of May.

Members who wish to be considered for selection for these competitions should put their names down on the sheets which are posted on the noticeboard at present as soon as possible.
