Lakes in full swing at Islandderry

THE two lakes at Islandderry Fishery,Dromore are in full swing with alot of anglers catching good quailty and good numbers of rainbows.

Small drys, olive buzzers and bloodworm are the favourite flies for most anglers with the fish being caught on the top and just below the surface.

Recent notable catches on the Hollow Springs lake were George Little from Banbridge released 15 on a montana, Paul Sinnamon, Blackskull braved the weather on Friday for a couple of hours to release 14, Simon Crossey, Ballynahinch released 24 on a olive buzzer and Jason Tate, Belfast released 26 on a mixture of drys and buzzers.

The main lake saw some lovely trout being caught with James Herdman from Blackskull releasing a lovely 5lb10 fish while Colin Jackson, Hillsborough released a nice 10lb1 fish.

The main lake is also producing good numbers of trout being caught with Ronnie McFadden, Lisburn releasing over 14 on olive buzzers.

The next competition at the fishery is the ever popular annual All Night Competition and BBQ on Saturday 30th June. Fishing is on both lakes and starts from 7pm fishing through to 7am the next morning. Entry fee is £30 which includes 3 fish C&R, BBQ and the chance of winning cash prizes!
