Laura nets a winner to down the Owls for South

South Ladies continued in winning form with a 1-0 victory over a well organised Owls team, who were disappointed not to have anything to show for their efforts.

South started well showing the good form they have demonstrating from the start of the season.

Young Lucy Fitzpatrick set up the first chance with a great attack down the right but despite Laura McConnell getting a touch on the ball, the well organised Owls defence managed to clear any threat to their goal.

Mossley worked hard to respond but the South defence Anna McFarlane and Nicole Robinson ensured there were no shots on goal.

South continued to attack with Carly Niblock putting pressure on the Owls defence with some great running down the right hand side.

All even at half-time, South started the second half ready again to take the game to Owls.

A couple of short corners resulted with Laura McConnell ready to add to her current goal-scoring form but the Owls defence held firm.

Mossley now started to challenge the South defence but again they worked hard with Wendy Li getting in some great tackles.

Two minutes before the final whistle, Erin Rainey won the ball in midfield sending a great pass into the circle that was well taken by Laura McConnell to slip it past the Owls keeper to snatch a victory.

UNDER 15S

South Antrim Under 15 girls were also on winning form hosting the Under 15 Ulster branch development teams at their home ground.

The girls played some great attacking hockey to beat Ballynahinch 6-0 and Tullyvallen 6-1 with Leah Carson getting six goals, Erin Aiken three goals and Grace Cotton, Jordan Turner and Erin Kerr scored one each.
