Night of celebration for St Joseph's

St.Joseph's GAC Glenavy held their Annual Presentation Dinner in the Ballymac Hotel on Saturday January 30.

Guests included the club’s former county chairman Jim Murray and his wife Rosie, club president Fr. McBride, main sponsor Martin McClinton and his wife Patricia.

Also present were Patrick Nugent and Paul Johnston, the new senior team management. Special guests were the late Francie Doone’s wife Geraldine and daughter’s Briege, Chloe and Erin.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the intermediate football championship medals to the senior panel.

The Doone family presented a Perpetual Cup to the club to be awarded annually to a member who has gone that extra mile to help in anyway to make an individual or the club to be better.

In an emotional speech Briege said the individual who was to be the first recipient had gone several extra miles to help her family come to terms with her Daddy’s untimely death through the many excellent photos he had taken of Francie which were a consolation to all the family. Robert Trowlen the club’s photographer was the first recipient.

A framed montage of photos of Francie were presented to Geraldine, Briege, Chloe, Erin and Francie’s sister Maire.
