The Ladies’ Intermediate Cup team played the second leg of their first-round match against Rossmore Golf Club on Saturday afternoon knowing they needed to overturn a 4 -1 defeat from the first leg.

Congratulations to all the team of Lesley Gausden, Sinead Robinson, Avril Clements, Arlene Leitch and Cara McKinstry on securing a fantastic win and progressing into the next round.

Gents (Saturday, April 23) Fred Daly Memorial Competition

The course is recovering well after the heavy rains through out the start of the year and the competition was played with a strong cool breeze throughout the day.

However, Richard Todd made light work of the conditions to win with 43 points from Derek McWhirter who took second and Harry McVeigh who finished third.

Results: 1st, Richard Todd, 43 pts; 2nd, Derek McWhirter, 42 pts; 3rd Harry McVeigh, 40 pts; 4th, Michael Mulvenna 40 pts; 5th, Ian Cameron 39 pts; 6th, Houston Saunderson 38 pts.

Gross: Ryan McKinstry 34 pts.

Ulster Cup Round 2 Cairndhu v Lambeg: Cairndhu’s Ulster Cup team hosted Lambeg on Sunday afternoon in the return leg of their match after having won the first leg 4-3.

The home side progressed into the next round with a comfortable 5-2 home win and now await the winners of Rossmore GC v Ardglass GC.

Holt Shield: The competition is initially played in sections with Cairndhu drawn with Balmoral, Galgorm and Belvoir Golf Clubs.

The team played Galgorm last Sunday (April 17) at Cairndhu and won 3.5 to 1.5. On Sunday, April 24 they travelled to Belvoir where they lost 4-1.
