Snow closes the course at Lisburn Golf Club

The snow which had been forecast for Friday night and early Saturday morning arrived on time and made the Lisburn Golf Course completely unplayable.

Several inches of snow had covered the course by 9am. Rain during the week could not seep away and several parts of the course were waterlogged. Sunshine on Saturday morning followed by rain removed the snow but the course was too wet to for play to commence on Sunday.

Head greenkeeper Robert Nelson opened the front nine for play on Monday morning. With the damp conditions he could only allow play on the temporary greens.

Only a few seasoned campaigners ventured out. The rest are waiting patiently for an improvement in the weather and the course to dry out.
