The momentum continued and Banbridge were ahead by five before Downpatrick reacted and began to add to their score line.

The second quarter started similar to the first with Banbridge edging ahead.

With fantastic full court defence, Downpatrick were constantly pressurised and any errors were picked up by GD Alana Kerr and WD Emily Wright who were on top form.

harley Brush in GK ensured the opportunities by the Downpatrick GS were limited, however, accurate shooting by the GS ensured Downpatrick were able to increase the goal tally to 15-10 at half time.

Although the goal margin had further increased Banbridge knew that it was still anyone’s game.

Remaining focused, Banbridge again had another confident start thanks to excellent shooting from Leah Maney and Gemma Hassan. The game flowed well for Banbridge, attacking at every opportunity, creating space and accurately placing the ball.

With the team working well no changes were made. Although a win was in sight Banbridge were not complacent.

Following more positive and constructive feedback at quarter time Banbridge tightened up in defence and were able to intercept all but one of the Downpatrick’s centre passes.
