It would also be fair to say that they did it the hard way having defeated a very good RBAI team in the first round and then travelling to Royal and Prior in the quarter finals where they again defeated a highly talented team.

Despite not playing to their best they defeated Sullivan Upper 2-0 in the final with captain Scott McCabe, son of former Lisnagarvey coach Peter, scoring a real cracker on the reverse stick and Andrew Clarke also on the score sheet.

Wallace coach Neal McKnight said: “The boys have been really excellent all year and certainly had a tough run to the final where they faced a very good Sullivan team.

“It has been a great season for boys hockey at the school with us hosting the Irish Schools Dinner in October and reaching four finals but I have to say that it was great to at last get some silverware. We will now look forward to the John Waring Trophy in April,” he added.

Squad: Lewis Taylor, Andrew Smith, Patrick Hunter, Jordan Taggart, Joel Beckett, Nicky Acheson, Jason McClinton, Andrew Houston, Andrew Coalter, Scott McCabe (captain), Jacob Hermon, William Carey, Craig Getty, Andrew Clarke, James McAuley, Philip Wenlock.
